A meaningful Christmas Hamper

Objective:

AMI conducted the 5th Edition of the Christmas Hampers Campaign  that reflected the highest priority needs felt within the 25.500 beneficiaries currently  supported by AMI.

“The Christmas campaign proves to be of a special importance. It sustains the body with material goods that we distribute and on the other hand it comforts the soul with affection, emotion and love that leads to the heart of the beneficiaries and gives them, for moments, hope for the path they have left. " (Paulo Pereira - Director of the Coimbra Social Center).

This campaign aimed to provide 2.111 beneficiary families of AMI  with a hamper of typical food this holiday season and ensure part of the essential social support through the 17 Social Facilities & Responses AMI has widespread in Portugal namely, 9 Centers Porta Amiga (Lisboa - Olaias and Chelas , Porto, Almada, Cascais, Funchal, Coimbra Vila Nova de Gaia and Angra do Heroísmo); 2 Night Shelters (Lisbon and Oporto); 1 Social Residence (São Miguel Island); 2 Street Teams (Lisbon and Vila Nova de Gaia / Porto); 1 Home Support Service (Lisbon) and 2 Food poles receiving goods from the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived ( Lisbon and Porto).

 


Results:

TO HELP 1 FAMILY = 1 HAMPER + 1 SOCIAL CONSULTATION

Each family receivd a hamper consisting of cod,  olive oil and beans , among other foods associated with Christmas. And each family had also access to a social follow-up consultation  that is vital to the work of social inclusion. The Social Monitoring carried out in the centers is a process that requires rigorous social diagnosis,a joint work with beneficiaries, and continuous social assessment, appropriate to the needs of each person who promotes their welfare. Your contribution allowed to continue this work.

TOGETHER WE RAISED FOR 6945 PESSOAS:

  • 1.352 kilos of cod fish
  • 3.000 olive oil bottles
  • 1.000 sugar packages
  • 1.550 chocolates
  • 5.750 personal hygiene products
  • 45.000 junior yogurtes 
  • 6.500 several dairy goods raised through partners
  • Beside the funds raised by civil society and corporate partners it was possible to raise  58.144,67€ donations in goods
  • 473 volunteer hours
